What Amazon Brand Registry Actually Gets You

Brand Registry requires a registered trademark, which puts some sellers off enrolling — but for anyone building a lasting brand rather than flipping a single product, the tools it unlocks are hard to replicate otherwise.

Content and advertising tools

  • A+ Content and Premium A+ for richer product pages.
  • Sponsored Brands and Sponsored Display advertising formats.
  • A branded storefront to consolidate your catalog under one page.

Protection tools

  • More control over listing content, reducing unauthorized edits from other sellers on shared listings.
  • Access to Transparency for unit-level authenticity verification in high-risk categories.
  • A more direct reporting path for counterfeit or IP-infringing listings using your brand.

Is it worth the trademark process?

For a brand intended to last beyond a single product cycle, yes — the combination of content tools, ad formats, and protection against listing hijacking tends to pay for the trademark registration effort many times over as the brand grows.

What you need before you enroll

Enrollment itself is free. The cost and the waiting sit in the trademark, so plan for that part first.

  • A registered or pending trademark from an accepted government office, such as the USPTO, UKIPO or EUIPO.
  • The mark must be text-based or an image with words, and it must match the brand name on your products and packaging.
  • Photos that show the brand name fixed to the product or its packaging. A sticker added for the photo is often refused.
  • The person who applies must be the trademark owner or an agent the owner approves.

During enrollment a code is sent to the contact listed on the trademark record, often the attorney who filed it. Tell that person to expect it, because the code expires.

How long it takes

A trademark can take many months to register, and the timeline depends on the country. Many offices now allow enrollment while the application is still pending, which saves most of that wait. The IP Accelerator program connects sellers with approved law firms and can give earlier access to brand tools. Once the application is in, enrollment is usually settled within about two weeks.

First steps after approval

Approval is the start, not the finish. Use the first week to switch on what you now have.

  • Claim your existing products under the brand so the new tools appear on them.
  • Build richer product pages for the top three sellers first.
  • Open the brand analytics reports and note which search terms bring your buyers.
  • Bookmark the Report a Violation tool, and save your trademark number where the team can find it.

What it does not do

It does not remove other sellers from your listings. Anyone with genuine stock may still resell it. The protection covers counterfeits, misuse of your logo and copied images, not competition on price. Brand owners who want to limit resellers need distribution agreements, which is a legal matter outside the platform.

We handle enrollment and brand protection for clients, and the cost is shown on our pricing page. For questions about your own mark, arrange a free 20-minute call.

Frequently asked questions

Can I enroll with a pending trademark?

In many countries, yes. The list of accepted offices and the pending-application rules are published on the official enrollment page, so check it before you file.

Do I need a separate enrollment for each country?

One brand account can cover several marketplaces, but the trademark must be valid in the region where you want protection.

Does it cost anything?

The program is free. The trademark filing and any legal fees are the real cost.
