What is Amazon SEO and how is it different from Google SEO?
Amazon SEO ranks products inside Amazon's own search engine (A9/A10), which weighs conversion rate, sales velocity, and keyword relevance far more heavily than backlinks or domain authority, which matter on Google. The goal is to rank for terms shoppers actually use when they're ready to buy.
How many keywords should be in my product title?
Titles should read naturally for a shopper while including your most important 1-2 keywords near the front — cramming in every keyword variation usually hurts conversion more than it helps ranking. Backend search terms are the right place for additional keyword variations.
What is A+ Content and is it worth doing?
A+ Content (available to Brand Registered sellers) replaces the plain text description with rich images, comparison charts, and formatted text. It reliably improves conversion rate and reduces returns by setting clearer expectations, so it's worth doing for any brand-registered listing.
How many product images should a listing have?
Amazon allows up to 9 images (or more with certain content types) — most well-optimized listings use most of that space to show the product from multiple angles, in use, with size/scale context, and key benefits called out visually.
What are backend search terms and how do they work?
Backend search terms are hidden keyword fields that help Amazon's search index match your listing to relevant queries without cluttering the customer-facing title and bullets. They should include synonyms, misspellings, and terms that don't fit naturally into visible copy.
Why is my listing suppressed or inactive?
Suppressed listings usually have a missing required attribute, a policy violation, or a compliance document requirement (like a safety certificate) that hasn't been met. Checking the listing quality dashboard or Account Health page usually shows the exact reason.
What is a buy box and why don't I have it?
The Buy Box is the "Add to Cart" button on a listing when multiple sellers offer the same product — Amazon awards it based on price, fulfillment method, seller performance, and stock availability. Losing it usually means a competitor is priced lower or has better metrics on one of those factors.
Can I edit a listing that other sellers are also selling on?
On a shared listing (same ASIN, multiple sellers), title, images, and bullet points are shared — any seller with sufficient listing quality permissions can edit them, which is why unauthorized edits from other sellers happen. Brand Registry gives the brand owner more control over this.
What is EBC vs A+ Content vs Premium A+?
Enhanced Brand Content (EBC) was the older name for what's now called A+ Content. Premium A+ adds interactive modules like comparison charts and larger hero images but requires a higher sales history threshold to unlock.
How often should I update my product listings?
Actively selling listings benefit from periodic review — checking for lost keyword ranking, refreshing images seasonally, and updating copy based on customer questions or returns feedback. There's no fixed schedule, but ignoring a listing for a year while competitors iterate is a common way to lose ranking.
